Zach Brumfield

Zach is a percussionist, percussion composer, and marching arts performer/educator. Born and raised in Noblesville, IN, he was subjected to music at a very young age, being gifted his first drum set as at the age of 3. Following in his fathers footsteps, he joined concert band in 6th grade as a percussionist and never looked back. Since then, he has been fortunate to take part in numerous musical activities including concert bands, jazz bands, show choir bands, marching bands and indoor percussion ensembles at Noblesville Schools, as well as various ensembles at the collegiate and independent levels.

Zach has taken part in several special opportunities in music, such as performing with the Indiana All State Percussion Ensemble (2017 & 2018), performing three first place snare drum solos (two of which were original compositions that can be purchased here) at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (2016-2018), and marching in DCI and WGI, with Pioneer DBC in 2018, Veritas in 2019 and 2020, the Blue Knights (virtual season) in 2020, the Bluecoats in 2021/2022 and Broken City Percussion in 2022/2023.

Outside of his performance career, Zach also enjoys teaching percussion. He taught the battery percussion section at the Anderson High School Marching Band in 2019, helping to bring home another State Fair Band Day Championship to that program. He joined the percussion staff at Decatur Central High School (Indianapolis, IN) in the summer of 2019, and it remains his current teaching position. Zach also taught for a short time at PS Music Academy in Greenwood, IN, where he enjoyed giving private lessons and leading group classes of all ages.

He and his father teamed up to create My First Drum Solo, a fun community experience for inner-city youth. Visiting many family-centered events around central Indiana, MFDS allows kids to have a fun first experience behind a real drum set, leaving them with a free pair of drumsticks and a photo of their solo!

Ultimately, Zach hopes to use his love of music and percussion as a catalyst for a successful life, meeting people, making connections, and sharing his passions with everyone around him!
